There is a lot of hustle and bustle in Peru’s large capital city of Lima. It was the first city we visited on our three-week trip around the beautiful country, and we knew it would be crowded and busy. So booking a hotel that was quiet and comfy was especially important to us!
After looking at many hotels all over Lima, we decided on Lima Wari Suites. Not only is it budget-friendly, but it has the Trip Advisor’s Certificate of Excellence to back it up. This hotel was in a great location, had the cutest style, and the staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed our stay in their hotel and in their country.
Nestled into the artsy neighborhood of Barranco, Lima Wari is very easy to spot. Its secure wooden fences and architecture stand out from the surrounding buildings and make it look almost like a quaint little cottage.
The location is perfect for exploring Barranco and is in close proximity to many museums, sights, and restaurants. We could walk down the street to try some authentic Peruvian cuisine, or take a stroll to a popular bench overlooking the sea. The bus stop and local grocery store are also within walking distance of the hotel.
Upon arrival, the staff were incredibly friendly and showed us to our room. We explored the grounds for a bit and loved the look and feel of the place. The lounge areas were nicely lit and had a very regal, boutique vibe to it. Everywhere you look there are plants that surround you and make it feel quite homey. Take a gander at the traditional Peruvian artwork hanging on the walls and the cute knick-knacks lining the shelves. Peru prides themselves in their unique culture and it definitely showed at our stay at Lima Wari.
The café was a small area with tables set up for guests to enjoy breakfast and lunch. Breakfast was served early in the morning and was fairly small, but we liked that because we wanted to work up an appetite for lunchtime so that we could indulge in the other foods Peru had to offer. The best part about breakfast was their freshly-squeezed juice!
We booked a room with a huge, soft bed that was perfect to pass out on whenever we returned from a long, busy day of sight-seeing. The colors of the room were bright and vibrant, which we loved. There are mini-fridges that are fully stocked with drinks and tasty snacks to tide you over until your next meal. We often ended the day by dozing off to a movie we had already seen, except this time in Spanish!
The bathroom was very clean and small, but it was all we needed to start the day each morning. And the showers were pleasantly hot! There was a spot to hang our nicer clothes and a desk nearby to get some work done. A window sat above our bed that we liked to open in the evenings and close right before bed to avoid hearing too much noise in the mornings.
Let me tell you, those beds were way comfy! At night a hush came over the city and we got some incredibly restful sleep while we stayed at Lima Wari.
The service we were given at the hotel was exceptional. If we ever had questions about exploring Lima as a whole, they provided us with maps, marked them with their favorite spots and the best routes to take, and even let us know what times to catch the bus to head into the city. Whenever we needed a cab to take us somewhere or to the airport, they were happy to call one for us and get us all set up! They always had our backs.
It is widely known that when traveling to Peru, you should avoid drinking the tap water. The staff had a water jug set up in one of the hallways to fill our water bottles up each day. That was so helpful!
Each night when we came home, we were greeted by a nicely-made bed with fresh linens. There were always new towels and washcloths in the bathroom to use. We could tell the room service was very courteous. They left our things where they were as they tidied up, and if something was in their way they would place it on our table to make sure we knew where it had gone.
There was always a staff member at the front desk at all hours to make sure all the guests’ needs were always met.
Would you stay in this hotel? Because you totally should! It’s the perfect retreat from the busy city and you’ll get an awesome night’s rest after your many adventures. Leave a comment below with what you think! 🙂
